We're looking for a team of Digital Engagement Assistants to create social media content for our channels and help expand our reach to over 30,000 BCU students.

We have 2-4 positions available and applicants must be BCU students. Students starting BCU in September 2026 are welcome to apply.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Using social media trends to creatively promote BCUSU's activities, campaigns and services
  • Engaging with students on our social media channels
  • Covering our events, activities and campaigns
  • Creating and publishing your own content while adhering to our content calendar
  • Promoting our sub-brand such as: Eagle & Ball, The Social Kitchen or our Campus Shops

Our preferred candidates will have good knowledge of the social media platforms our students use (predominantly TikTok and Instagram), and have some experience in photo and editing software. You will be primarily based in Curzon Building, City Centre Campus, however travel to the other campuses will also be expected, and the ability to complete work remotely.

Who we're looking for...

  • Proficient in use of social media platforms

  • Ability to organise own workload and meet content schedule deadlines

  • Proactive personality and ability to approach students

  • Experience of photo and editing software

  • Awareness of social media trends

  • Knowledge of BCUSU’s audience, products and services

  • Ability to manage working time effectively, using own initiative and unsupervised

  • Conscious of observance campaigns that are important to BCU students, e.g. History Months, Awareness Days

Principle purpose of job:

  • Support the delivery of BCUSU’s digital engagement through social media

  • Participate and create digital assets to promote BCUSU

  • Overall support to BCUSU’s marketing and communications

Hours

Hours will vary depending on availability and tasks available. Your employment will be on a part-time casual basis, and should not exceed 20 hours a week. Hours will typically be worked during our usual working week (Monday – Friday) with the option to work on weekends where applicable.

Pay

£13.45 per hour

Selection process

Previous experience working in social media, videography, photography, marketing or the media is helpful but not essential. In your application please provide information about yourself, why we should consider for this role and why you would be a great member of our Marketing & Communications team. If you don’t have any previous experience, tell us about other times you have demonstrated an interest in working in social media or digital marketing.

Shortlisting will take place from Monday 22nd June, with interview offers being sent from Tuesday 23rd June onwards. Due to high volumes of applications we may only contact successful applicants.

Sunday 21st June 2026, at 23:00pm. Please submit your application before this deadline. Late applications will not be considered.

Interview date

Sucessful candidates will be contacted for interview thart will take place on Monday 29th June. We would ideally like to hold interviews in person however online interviews can be offered to anyone unable to attend in person. Please state your availability during the application process.

Start date

We are looking for candidates to begin training from week commencing 20th July 2026.
