Diocesan Staff
School Buildings and Trusteeship Officer
Salary Up to £45,000 (1.0 FTE) per annum, based on experience (equivalent of up to £27,000 per annum for a 0.6 FTE)
Closing date for applications: 4th January 2026
Interview date: 16 January 2026
Hours: Part-time (21.75 per week)
The Diocese of Exeter has an excellent reputation for providing support to Devon’s church schools and academies in relation to property matters. The role involves working closely with the Property Services Team and the Diocesan Board of Education to provide property advice to church schools and academies and acting on behalf of the school site trustees.
We are looking for someone who is committed to the principle of church schools and wants to maintain and enhance further this support and reputation.
Traditionally this role has been undertaken by a full time Chartered Surveyor who combined it with providing professional building design and management services to schools. The new role is part time (0.6 FTE) and does not include the fee earning element so is suitable to those with a property and/or legal background.
We are seeking a high calibre individual who is highly motivated who has relevant experience but is also keen to learn. The current post-holder will be reducing their hours in February 2026 and will be able to provide training and support over an extended period.
The Diocese of Exeter is currently operating a hybrid pattern of office- and home-based working; the normal place of work will be diocesan offices, combined with some home working if desired. There is the expectation of travel throughout the county of Devon and occasional evening meetings.
