This self-employed position offers the opportunity to nurture creativity, confidence, and communication skills across awide range of ages and abilities, complementing the school’s vibrant Drama provision.Drama is a vibrant and integral part of life at Redmaids’ High School, where creativity, confidence, andcollaboration are at the heart of our ethos. The department is led by a team of specialist Drama teacherswho bring a wealth of professional experience, energy, and enthusiasm to their teaching.All students participate in one hour of discrete Drama lessons per week at Key Stage 3, developing skills inperformance, devising, and communication. At GCSE and A Level, Drama and Drama and Theatre Studiesbecome popular options, offering a rich blend of practical performance, creative exploration, and analyticalstudy of plays and practitioners. Students are encouraged to take risks, think critically, and develop asconfident, expressive individuals.The Department enjoys excellent facilities, including Redland Hall, a professional-standard performancespace equipped with full lighting and sound systems. Co-curricular Drama is exceptionally strong, with twomajor productions each year: an Upper School production for Years 8–13, including a biennial musical, and aLower School play featuring a large ensemble cast of over 100 Year 7-9 students. These productions are ahighlight of school life, drawing together students across year groups and disciplines, and reflecting theSchool’s commitment to creativity, teamwork, and artistic excellence.About the Drama DepartmentAbout the Visiting Teacher RoleWorking closely with the Speech & Drama Coordinator, you will prepare students for Trinity Guildhallexaminations (solo, duo, and group performance), as well as support participation in external events such asthe Bristol Festival of Speech & Drama. Lessons are expected to foster self-expression and performancetechnique while reflecting the school’s high standards of artistic and academic excellence.This self-employed visiting teacher position offers flexibility and autonomy within a supportive andcollaborative school environment. The role involves arranging individual and group lesson timetables via theschool’s SOCS system, maintaining effective communication with parents and colleagues, and managingadministrative tasks such as attendance records and exam entries. Tuition fees will be set and collecteddirectly by you.Lessons are typically 30 minutes in duration and take place before school, at lunchtimes, after school, andduring lesson time on a rotating basis. Visiting teachers usually deliver around 30 lessons per academic year(approximately 10 per term). One full term’s written notice is required by either party to end tuitionarrangements.We are looking for a vibrant teacher who will bring professionalism, creativity, and a passion for performance,inspiring students to develop both their artistic ability and their confidence beyond the classroom.The GDST are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must bewilling to undergo child protection checks appropriate to the post, including online searches, and checkswith past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.The closing date for applications is 9:00am on 1 December 2025.
