Build your confidence. Develop leadership skills. Make a difference.

You don’t need previous charity retail experience. If you’re passionate about people, have a positive attitude, enjoy working as part of a team and are keen to learn, we’ll provide the training and support you need to succeed. Whether you’re looking for your next step in retail, returning to work, changing career direction or developing leadership skills, we’d love to hear from you.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (three days a week, which will include working weekends and some bank holidays).

Working alongside the Store Manager, you’ll help create a welcoming, successful and vibrant store environment whilst supporting our fantastic team of volunteers.

You’ll:

  • Deliver excellent customer service and provide a positive shopping experience.

  • Create attractive displays and merchandise stock to encourage sales.

  • Process donations and prepare stock for sale.
  • Help keep the store safe, organised and looking at its best.
  • Promote Prospect Hospice within the local community.
  • Take responsibility for the store when the store manager is away (including working additional days to cover).

This is a hands-on role where you’ll gain experience in retail operations, leadership, customer service and volunteer management.

About you:

We’re more interested in your attitude and potential than where you’ve worked before, if you:

  • Enjoy working with people and building positive relationships.
  • Have a friendly, approachable and can-do attitude.
  • Are organised and enjoy being busy.
  • Work well as part of as team.
  • Are confident in taking initiative and solving problems.
  • Want to learn new skills and take on responsibility.
  • Care about making a difference in your community.

Experience in retail, hospitality, customer service, events, leisure or other people-focused roles would be helpful, but it’s not essential.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as you may occasionally support other Prospect Hospice shops across our area.

We offer a great range of benefits, including:

  • 27 days holiday FTE plus bank holidays (rising with length of service).
  • Generous contributory pension scheme and life assurance.
  • Discounts with local retailers, gyms and service providers including Blue Light Discount Card.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Supportive induction, training and development.
  • A values led, inclusive working environment.

We know that great candidates don’t always meet every requirement listed in a job advert. If you’re excited by this opportunity and think you would be a good fit, we’d encourage you to apply.

For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Rachael Daniel, Retail Area Manager on 07779 299734.
