Job Title: ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES CO-ORDINATOR
Responsible to: ASSISTANT HEAD CO-CURRICULAR
Main Purpose:
Sedbergh is seeking a suitable candidate to work as Adventure Activities Co-ordinator on a part time basis. This role requires you to be committed to the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), the quality of outdoor learning and the School’s outdoor activity programme. Building upon the successful programmes that have been an integral part of the School for many years, the successful applicant is to provide an engaging and inspiring experience for the pupils in the CCF and continue to develop the scope of the School Outdoor Pursuits programme.
Roles and Responsibilities:
CCF Contingent Commander
You will be responsible for leadership of the CCF contingent covering Navy and Army sections, their adult staff and pupils during CCF activities. The role will include promoting and recruiting for the CCF among staff and pupils and to build the culture of service which is a pilar of life at Sedbergh.
Provide a vision for the development of CCF at Sedbergh, drawing on current best practice and the identification of opportunities for innovation and added value and inspiring enthusiasm for, and engagement with, cadet pathways and opportunities.
• Advise senior leadership on policy, strategy, and resources for the development of the CCF.
Have responsibility for all aspects of the CCF programme and its implementation, ensuring an exciting, varied and effective CCF training programme, making full use of the SSI and staff involved with the CCF. The aim is for pupils to benefit from their CCF experience, developing their leadership and other skills in line with Sedbergh and wider CCF values under the auspices of the CCF both in school and outside on the wide range of courses and activities on offer.
• Identify innovative and creative ways to inspire and engage pupils at different ages about service within the CCF.
Promote attendance at external courses where adult instructors and cadets achieve qualifications in military skills and adventure training.
Manage and administer the Contingent in line with the CCF Regulations, and the appropriate Ministry of Defence and Cadet Force HQ policy, rules and practices.
• Line manage and administer the School Staff Instructor, providing oversight of their tasks and responsibilities.
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding legislation, and the Schools’ safeguarding policies and procedures as well as understanding Cadet Force policies for safeguarding.
Supervise the School Staff Instructor, in accounting for, securing and maintaining MOD issued loan equipment and the MOD provided infrastructure at the School in line with the Combined Cadet Force Regulation, and the relevant MOD and/or Cadet Force HQ policies, rules and practices.
Manage and audit of the Contingent Grant in line with the Combined Cadet Force Regulation, ensuring that public funds are used correctly. Apply for the various charitable grants on offer for the benefit of the contingent and cadets.
Represent the School at relevant courses, conferences and meetings pertaining to CCF and be prepared to attend all CCF events including Summer Camp, Field Days and the Remembrance Service.
Ensure that all cadet activity, courses and training is planned and delivered in line with the relevant MoD Safety Management System and in line with School Health and Safety policy.

Other Duties:
Head of Outdoor Pursuits
Lead, plan and supervise the organisation of the School’s programme of Outdoor Education activities during the week and at weekends.
Organise and lead trips and the expeditions programme as experience and qualifications allow, including accompanying pupils on these expeditions.
Coordinate staff training both on a personal basis via in-house accreditation and National Governing Body Awards.
Develop contacts for specific activities which the School cannot provide in house and identify where members of staff can gain suitable qualifications for those activities.
Work with the DofE managers to ensure the delivery of high-quality programme and identify opportunities for increased participation and manage the provision of a safe and enjoyable programme for participants.
Oversee the management of the outdoor pursuits kit stores including purchasing, repair and logging of and accounting for equipment.
• Produce standard operational procedures for adventurous off-site activities and regularly reassess and update these.
Management of the Outdoor Pursuits budget.

All staff should be aware of the school’s health and safety policy and implement it as appropriate.
