Southeast Asia Business Development Manager

Description of required services and objectives:

Raising awareness of and selling all EI Academy products and services to clients in Southeast Asia, coordination of local training activities and advising on the business development of training and professional development activities in the region.

Nature and scope for required services:

  • Raising awareness of all EI Academy products and services within target local companies and individual customers, securing and following up on leads.
  • Recruitment of corporate and individual training clients through calls, emails, media engagement etc.
  • Acting as first point of contact, customer service and sales representative for local training enquiries, delivering excellent service and upselling across the portfolio wherever possible.
  • Recruitment of qualified local trainers to deliver face-to-face training courses in the region.
  • Coordinating logistical arrangements for the delivery of face-to-face training courses, including liaison with venues and trainers and issuing joining instructions to delegates.
  • Ensuring all local scheduled face-to-face training courses run at a profit through the close monitoring of bookings, targets and rigorous lead follow-up.
  • Working closely with EI HQ and Accreditation & Approvals Panel to facilitate the accreditation of local university programmes and growth of EI Learning Affiliates in the region, working with a group of local volunteers to process paperwork and conduct physical visits to budget.
  • Advising on the business development of training and professional development activities in the region, by researching and providing reports on market potential trends, sales, customer needs / problems, competitor activities, and potential for new products and services to grow the EI’s portfolio for the local audience.
  • Acting as Secretariat to the Malaysia (and Singapore?) Committees, coordinating and supporting committee activities, including volunteer recruitment.
  • Looking for opportunities to develop sponsorship/contra-deals/partnerships with appropriate organisations/events to raise the EI’s profile and expand EI’s footprint and membership.
  • Liaising with EI HQ around the production of marketing and promotional materials as necessary.
  • Working with Management on any other tasks that may emerge as a result of the growth of the local / regional EI community or Institute as a whole, including Technical & Innovation, Membership and Events.

Key deliverables for required services:

  • Recruitment of 12-16 participants for the Executive Leadership in Energy Programme Spring / Summer 2026 cohort & Autumn / Winter 2026 cohort (if running in Malaysia, location of latter cohort TBD).
  • Logistical coordination and industry guest speaker recruitment for Executive Leadership in Energy Programme cohorts being held in Malaysia.
  • Recruitment of minimum 2 local trainers to run EI Academy training courses locally, ‘train the trainer’ activities scheduled.
  • Minimum 2 successful open / public training courses from wider EI Academy portfolio ran at profit in Southeast Asia.
  • Minimum 2 successful corporate bespoke / in-house training contracts secured and ran at profit in Southeast Asia.
  • Supporting growth of EI Learning Affiliates and accreditation of local university programmes – conducting minimum 2-3 visits per year.
  • Close relationships established with 5+ companies and 3-5 EI Champions identified.
  • Increasing Southeast Asian audience recorded on CRM by 2.5-5%.
  • Sponsorship/Contra-deal arrangements with 1-2 organisations to support EI growth in the region.

Salary Range: RM 15,000 to RM 18,000 per month
