Full Time, 37 hours per week
Fixed Term until August 2028
We are seeking an Assistive Technology and Equipment Officer to provide a high quality, community-based service to people who have a sensory loss e.g. Adults and young people aged 16+ who are Sight Impaired, Severely Sight Impaired and Deafblind.
As part of the role, you will be:
- Working within the community or in individual’s homes providing a person-centred service
- To do strengths-based assessments, support plan and risk assessment with service users including and where appropriate their carers/family members.
- Provide practical and impartial information and advice on technical equipment and be able to demonstrate and issue appropriate equipment for people who are hard of hearing
- Enable individuals to familiarise themselves with relevant products to enable access to digital services such as email and internet.
We are looking for individuals who
- Able to communicate effectively with all people across the sensory spectrum.
- Able to undertake assessments and manage own case load
- Have experience in using databases.
- Have the knowledge and keep up to date with assistive technology that is useful to sensory impaired people
- Are flexible and prepared to travel around Leeds area.
- Able to work independently, using initiative and be well organized, deal with conflicting demands on time and respond to deadline
