St Helens Resilience Service is a service that has been developed through collaboration between Barnardo's and St Helens CCG, Public Health, Local Schools and Merseycare NHS Trust.

The overall aim of the service is to improve the emotional wellbeing and resilience of secondary school aged young people living in St Helens by offering a range of therapeutic interventions in secondary schools, in GP surgeries and in the community. This is done through direct interventions with young people such as group work, drop-ins and individual interventions, and indirectly through their parents, and through training, resourcing and supporting health and education colleagues.

We have an opportunity for a qualified mental health practitioner to join the team for a fixed term, 8 month contract, to cover the secondment of another member of staff.

Do you have significant experience of working in a trauma informed and responsive way?

Are you qualified Counsellor, with experience of working with young people who have complex emotional health and wellbeing needs?

  • Able to evidence continuous professional development
  • Can provide specialist experience within the team
  • Able to drive and have access to a car

We are looking for someone to:

  • Take the operational lead in a busy and vibrant therapeutic service.
  • Line manage and nurture a team of therapeutic staff.
  • Work with individual strengths to support high quality delivery.

 We are looking for someone who is passionate about:

  • Children's and Young people's emotional health and wellbeing
  • Improving outcomes for children and young people

The successful candidate must have:

  • Extensive experience of overseeing operational service delivery
  • Extensive experience of overseeing the delivery of therapeutic / support interventions
  • A comprehensive understanding of children's safeguarding
  • Extensive experience of line management

The successful candidate must also be to evidence:

That they hold a minimum of a diploma level qualification in counselling, child and adolescent psychotherapy, art, play, drama or music therapy which has included a practicum / placement of at least 100 hours of supervised practice.
