Job Title General Builder / Tradesperson Responsible to Estate Supervisor Role Overview The primary focus of the role is to carry out day to day site maintenance and to complete refurbishments and project work in various buildings in the school. There may be occasions where the postholder is required to carry out work in other schools within the group. Responsibilities and Duties • Carry out day to day maintenance, repairs and small scale projects across the school campus • Carry out maintenance work, either on your own or as part of a team, including painting, plumbing or carpentry related projects to the internal and external aspects of our buildings and grounds • Assist with minor electrical repairs (within competence and regulations) • Support routine statutory maintenance tasks as directed by the Estates Supervisor • Respond promptly to maintenance requests logged via the Every helpdesk system • Ensure all works are carried out safely and in accordance with school policies, risk assessments and regulatory requirements • Work collaboratively with the Estate Team and external contractors • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used and issues identified • Communicate effectively with staff, boarding house teams and department heads • Assist with seasonal tasks such as gritting, clearing leaves and managing drainage problems as required • Assist with setting up school events, functions and operational needs as required • Being part of the emergency call-out rota as required Person Specification Essential • Embody the values of Clayesmore, demonstrating loyalty to the school and its ethos • City and Guilds (or equivalent) trade qualifications relevant to building services or construction • Broad experience across multiple trades: carpentry, plumbing, masonry and general DIY/maintenance work • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work independently • Good understanding and practical experience of health and safety legislation and practices • Reliable, proactive and adaptable • Proven experience of working in an organised, methodical and timely manner • Willingness to go the extra mile and work additional hours on an ad hoc basis if required Desirable • Experience of maintaining or working within heritage or mixed age buildings • Experience of more than one trade Additional Information ● This is an all year round, one year fixed term role ● 40 contractual hours per week, Monday to Friday with a one hour unpaid break each day. ● Holiday entitlement will be 22 days per year (1 January - 31 December), plus 8 Bank Holidays. You may be required to work any public holiday when the school is open, for which time off will be given.
