Family Action & the Role’s Impact:
At Family Action we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities.

We see first-hand the power of family to shape lives, for better or worse, so we speak up for the
importance of family in national and local policymaking, amplify family voices and represent the changing needs of families in the UK today.

Main Responsibilities:
Family Action are committed to meeting the needs of families accessing our services. Within Stockton-on-Tees family time service we are seeing an increased demand for group family time sessions which can offer greater flexibility and variety within their structure. As such we are seeking a fixed term group facilitator to support us in piloting this innovative structure.
As a Family Time Group Facilitator (Supervised Contact), you will ensure that families are welcomed and supported when in the Supervised Contact Centre and in community venues. You will have an open-minded, flexible and caring approach towards children, parents and other family members who are attending Family Time (supervised contact). You will ensure that children are kept safe and that their emotional wellbeing is prioritised at all times.
You will promote and maintain contact arrangements that are agreed between all parties. Liaising with social workers, carers, special guardians, families and children to establish group structures and family time arrangements.
You will provide an opportunity to support parents to maintain positive relationships with their children. You will do so by providing engaging group sessions with structured session plans and resources in place. Overseeing the risk management and safeguarding within the group settings.
Where required, for individual family time, you will oversee practical and emotional support for parents; this will help to make supervised contact sessions a positive experience for the children. Where contact is between the wider family group e.g., sibling contact, ensure the needs, preferences and experiences of all attendees are considered and supported.
