Job Description and Person Specification Job Title Responsible to Introduction Responsibilities Lead Teacher of Drama The Headmaster Every pupil studies Drama at KS3 (Years 7-9) Drama is an option at GCSE – there is usually one set per year group (Years 10 and 11) The Senior School Production usually takes place in April. Subject Leaders are responsible for overseeing and developing the curriculum, teaching and learning, assessment and tracking of pupil progress and staffing needs, in their subject area. The Drama Lead is expected to: - • Demonstrate and share good practice within the department and across the school. • Provide subject expertise when required, keeping up-to-date with all changes to the curriculum up to and including GCSE. • Take advantage of opportunities to positively promote the subject within the school. • Represent their subject at pupil option evenings. • Provide a point of contact for pupils and parents, with regard to • • subject specific issues. Liaise with the Prep to ensure smooth and effective pupil transition. Liaise with Heads of Department and other subject leads to take advantage of cross-curricular themes and opportunities (World Book Day, Bullying Week etc). • Co-ordinate and organise extra-curricular Drama activities (for example the Senior School Production. • Organise a selection of curriculum related theatre trips and workshops for years 7-11 • Co-ordinate with LAMDA Teacher to efficiently run the LAMDA programme; including entering students for examinations. Liaise with Marketing in regards to Drama Scholarship activities. Organise and run the Drama Scholarship process. • • Communicate to and from the department as required, with regard to the SMT, Special Educational Needs and English as an Additional Language. • Share duties and responsibilities within the department, where appropriate. • Organise intra-department INSET and training where necessary. • Ensure the department handbook and policies are regularly updated. • Submit all examination requirements and entries, as requested (GCSE only at present). • Update department assessment and tracking information and complete analysis of examinations, as requested. • Organise staffing within the department. • Produce department budgets and oversee department finances. • Oversee department resources. • Regularly review and update schemes of work, resources, curriculum content and methodologies, as required. Job Description and Person Specification • Update the department development plan on an annual basis. • Attend Heads of Department/Subject Lead meetings • Involve themselves in whole school curriculum development. • Ensure that all departmental staff maintain their classrooms with relevant displays.
