Job Title: Commercial Camp and Activity Leader Responsible to: Commercial Manager Role Overview We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Camps and Activity Leader to join our commercial team. This role is central to the smooth running of our camps and visiting group programmes at Clayesmore and other ILG schools. The postholder will serve as the main point of contact for each camp or visiting group onsite, taking responsibility for the safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of all participants throughout their stay. They will oversee the planning, organisation, and delivery of all on- and off-site activities, ensuring the programme is inclusive, engaging, and safe for every student. Additionally, the role involves resourcing activities, coordinating logistics, and supporting visiting staff and group leaders to ensure each session runs smoothly and successfully. Responsibilities and Duties Immersion Groups ● Plan, coordinate, and deliver engaging activities that introduce students to British boarding school life and culture. ● Supervise and support students during all on- and off-site activities, ensuring behaviour, safety, and participation standards are maintained. ● Liaise with visiting staff and group leaders to ensure smooth daily operations and clear communication. ● Organise logistics including schedules, activity resources, transport, and accommodation if required. ● Monitor student engagement and provide feedback and guidance to enhance their learning and cultural experience. Holiday Activities Identify staffing needs early and report any gaps to senior management. ● Plan, coordinate, and lead holiday activities, providing supervision, and overall leadership. ● ● Work with the Commercial Manager to ensure all promotional materials are published in advance. ● Ensure all staff are trained in booking processes and administrative procedures. ● Collaborate with the Clayesmore Commercial Manager and ILG Camp Manager to develop a dynamic and engaging programme that meets Clayesmore and customer requirements. Commercial Activities ● Support the provision of commercial activities across the School, including weddings, conferences, and other external events, in close consultation with the Commercial Manager. ● Act as the main point of contact for organisations using Clayesmore for residential holiday lets, including weekend arrivals and departures. ● Be available during summer months, including weekends, to ensure the smooth running of the Holiday Lets Programme. Operational Responsibilities ● Assist the Commercial Manager with the daily operation of the Sports Centre during the holiday period or commercial use of the facilities. ● As a key holder, maintain the security of premises, stock, and equipment. ● Deliver high-quality customer service to all users, including pupils, staff, and the public. ● ● Provide shift cover as part of a rota, acting as Shift Manager, Sports Assistant, or Lifeguard as Identify and report equipment repairs or replacement needs. required. ● Remain vigilant and compliant with safeguarding measures. ● Provide administrative and operational support to the Manager and duty teams. ● Assist with recruitment for the Sports Centre and other commercial areas of the School. Skills, Knowledge and Experience ● Previous experience in a similar role, with staffing and rota planning, timetabling, programme monitoring, health and safety, and children’s activity operations. ● Current, or willingness to obtain, RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification and Pool Plant Operators Certificate (training provided at the School’s expense). ● Previous experience leading immersion or study abroad groups. ● Paediatric First Aid level 3 ● Strong organisational and operational knowledge to ensure smooth delivery of holiday activities and commercial operations. Working Conditions The postholder will work in a well-maintained Centre with facilities and procedures in place to minimise health and safety risks. The role involves a mix of activities, including computer work and a degree of physical activity, such as walking, standing, and assisting with the manual handling of large equipment (guidance will be provided). A reasonable level of physical fitness is essential. When working in the pool environment, conditions may be warm, humid, and noisy for extended periods. This position will involve evening and weekend work, including the possibility of covering at short notice. The postholder may be required to undertake any duty within their capability and skill set, including tasks not normally associated with the Sports Centre. Due to the key responsibility for holiday activities and residential lets, holidays are primarily to be taken during term time with the agreement of the Line Manager, or exceptionally outside term time with the approval. Onsite accommodation is available when required, particularly during residential activity periods. The role may require the postholder to travel with groups, including possibly between Inspired Learning Group (ILG) schools. Accommodation will be provided by the School if overnight stays are necessary. All staff are employed by the School as a whole and may reasonably be asked to undertake similar or related duties in other departments, teams, or subsidiary companies. Additional Information ● This is an all year round role ● 40 contractual hours per week, the role will require the post holder to work some evenings and weekends. ● Holiday entitlement will be 22 days per year (1 September to 31 August), plus 8 Bank Holidays. You may be required to work any public holiday when the school is open, for which time off will be given.
